After Hours
  • All after hours telephone calls are diverted to National Home Doctor locum service.
 
Phone Calls
  • Although Doctors in the Practice may be contacted during normal opening hours by telephone, we try to keep interruptions to consultations to a minimum.

  • Our doctors will take phone calls if they are free at that time otherwise they will return your call at a convenient time if you leave your name, telephone number and the nature of the call.

  • If the matter is in relation to the management of your condition and your doctor is unavailable, we encourage you to speak to one of our registered nurses who will assess if it is an issue they can help you with.

  • If the matter is life threatening, call for an ambulance on 000

 

Recalls

  • Medical HQ recalls patients for a variety of conditions including Pap smears, chronic conditions, and preventive health checks.

  • Information regarding Pap smears, Mammograms and Childhood Immunisation are recorded on a state register that also sends appropriate recalls.

Home Visits
  • Our doctors regularly visit Residential Aged Care Facilities for low and high care patients.

  • Whilst home visits can be made if necessary (urban area only), we encourage patients to visit the surgery for medical care.  Doctors from our country practices will only undertake home visits for palliative care patients or in very exceptional circumstances.

Prescriptions
  • Patients are required to make an appointment for most repeat prescriptions. On some occasions your doctor may able to write a repeat prescription with no consultation in which case a fee will apply.

Test Results
  • Patients are required to make an appointment to discuss results of tests.

Referrals
  • Patients are required to make an appointment for medical specialist or allied health care referrals.

  • Doctors generally recommend specialists with whom they are most familiar, but are happy to refer to your nominated specialist.
